Warren County Partnership Targets Drug Traffickers

The Warren County Drug Task Force announced a new partnership with the Ohio Highway Patrol Thursday to help combat the flow of drugs running through Warren County on Interstates 75 and 71.  According to the joint agreement, a sergeant and two troopers with narcotic canines from the highway patrol will work with Warren County Deputy Brian Lewis and his two canines. The agencies will also share information and other resources.  If you are a constant reader of this blog you have followed the proliferation of stories wherein the Ohio State Highway Patrol has shifted focus to drug interdiction.  What impact this law enforcement effort will have on the Fourth Amendment and on an  individual’s rights is yet to be seen.  We will keep you informed.  See the full Dayton Daily News story by Justin McClelland.

Miami County OVI Checkpoint (May 18, 2012)

The Ohio State Highway Patrol will be conducting an OVI checkpoint tonight in Troy, Ohio along County Road 25A near Exit 78.  The checkpoint which is being conducted with the assistance of multiple law enforcement agencies will run from approximately 9 pm until 3 am.

DUI Charges In The Madison County Municipal Court

If you are arrested for DUI anywhere in Madison County, your misdemeanor DUI case will be heard in the Madison County Municipal Court.  The Madison County Municipal Court is located at 1 North Main St. in downtown London, OH in the historical Madison County Courthouse [MAP].  Court mail should be sent to P.O. Box 646, London, Ohio 43140.  The Court is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm.  You can contact the Court  by phone at (740) 852-1669, or by fax at (740) 852-0812.  The Court  also has a dedicated jury information number at (740) 845-1772.  The Honorable Eric M. Schooley serves as Judge in the Madison County Municipal Court.  He took over the position on January 7, 2011 replacing R. According to the Court’s 2011 Annual Report, the total number of cases filed in the court was 15,234 with 231 OVI cases included in that number.  The bulk of the court’s case load is non-OVI traffic offenses which account for 12,788 cases filed.  OVI arrests in 2011 were down from the 261 OVI arrests in 2010 and 251 in 2009.  In 2011 the Court conducted seven (7) jury trials, 313 trials to the judge and heard ten (10) motions to suppress.  Charles M.
