“Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” is being launched with multiple OVI checkpoints this weekend. There will be multiple checkpoints tonight (August 17th) and tomorrow (August 18th) throughout the Miami Valley. Please check back at this post as we will update all of our information as it becomes available.
Montgomery County: Montgomery County will hold one of two planned checkpoints on Friday. The checkpoint will take place on Wayne Avenue and will operate from 9 p.m. until approximately 1:00 a.m.
Kettering, Ohio: Kettering has announced that it will be using enhanced enforcement techniques for DUI enforcement leading up to and throughout the Labor Day weekend. These patrols will include saturation patrols with a particular emphasis on arresting impaired drivers.
Clark County: There will be an OVI sobriety checkpoint this weekend in Clark County, Ohio along Rt 40 at Rt. 68 (near the golf course). The checkpoint will run from 8 p.m. until midnight. The checkpoint will be held in the west-bound lane. The DUI checkpoint will be conducted by the Clark County OVI Task Force. The Clark County OVI Task Force is made up of the Clark County Combined Health District, Springfield Police Division, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio Highway Patrol, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Clark County EMA, Springfield Fire and Rescue Box 27, Ohio Investigative Unit and police departments in North Hampton, Enon, South Charleston, Tremont City and German Twp. This checkpoint is being conducted in conjunction with the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Hamilton County: There will be an OVI checkpoint this Friday, August 17, 2012 in Cincinnati. The checkpoint will be set up in the 2700 block of River Road and will be in operation from 9 PM to 1 AM.
Butler County: An OVI checkpoint will be held in the city of Fairfield in Butler County, law enforcement officials announced today. The checkpoint will be held on Nilles Rd, and last from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m. Troopers will also be conducting saturation patrols throughout the area. The OVI checkpoint, funded by federal grant funds, is planned to deter and intercept impaired drivers. The Butler County OVI Task Force and the Ohio State Highway Patrol are manning the operation. Delaware County: The Ohio State Highway Patrol Delaware post along with the Delaware and Franklin County Sheriff’s offices will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on U.S. 23 in Delaware County Friday night. The checkpoint operates from 10 p.m. until 2 a.m. Saturday.
